Protecting Topside Paint From Strops....

Keel mounting week !!! Finally.
My boat is going to be in the strops for some time while I mount the keel.
Also the travel lift strops on launch.
I have cut up camping bedroll strips (Foam/rubber /10mm) for that purpose.
Wondered if it might react with the two pack?
Any body used it before?

No experience with closed cell foam on slings, but environmental concerns will make you have to retrieve it when you launch.

Have seen news paper used, which then is left to break down in the water and also large plastic garbage bags, which get taped to the travel lift slings, and the boatyard workers dispose of them.

If you want to use the foam, maybe you can tape it to the slings, and the workers dispose of it for you after launch?

Years ago we used a yard in California which had rolls of butcher paper (the stuff with a waterproof waxy surface on one side) hung from the lower blocks on the slings. It was simple to unroll just enough to protect your new paint or topsides, and worked a treat.

Have never seen this scheme used since. Have suggested it to a few travel lift ops here in Oz and they just looked at me with that "bloody Yank wanker" look. Perhaps they are right?... But it sure worked well!

Thanks J&A,
I like the wax paper idea, between the foam and the boat.
Wax & paper sure won't react with the paint, but I am definitely
nervous about the EVA foam up against the PU.
