Propane stove

Can anyone identify this stove and tell me a little about it? It came out of my Morgan 35, don't know if its original. I hope to tear it down later today, but what do I need to watch out for when putting it back in service?

Also, the oven door has about a 3/4" gap at the top. Is a gap normal, or should the door close all the way?

I would expect to find a manufacturer's plate on the stove somewhere stating the name, model, type of fuel, etc.

None that I can find yet, but I haven't started taking it apart.

Looks like a Shipmate to me... not positive. That little bronze fuel valve does not look original to me. Not sure why it's there. I would consider removing it. The door should close. Check out the door gasket, might be holding it open, or maybe there is a hinge adjustment. That stove almost looks like it's been underwater....?

Look near where the gas line connects.

I will once I tear it down. There are no labels, logos, or words anywhere on the exterior. I'm sure it had one at one time, just got taken off (or fell off) for whatever reason. I was hoping someone might recognize it from cooking 1,000 meals on one just like it.

what do I need to watch out for when putting it back in service?

For one thing, it should have safety devices for all burners (and the oven) that shut off the gas if the flame goes out.

Well, I did have a shipmate 2 burner on one boat and it sure looks like it. I dont think they are still in business. One good source for updated burners etc (if you want to update the controls) is RV places. For the top burners it might be cheaper to buy a 3 burner new cooktop and steal the stuff off it. You can get them for about $100+. Not sure about oven controls.... and those are the most important for any fail safe devices... you can see the top burners! Does the stove work now? Te best protection device is YOU.

I don't know if it works, but I don't want to try it unless I can figure out what kind of condition it is supposed to be in first. I'm finding with everything else in the boat that individual items work just fine, just not together as systems. This is probably no different.

Just be sure to check all joints with soapy water or buy some of that propane check liquid.
