Prop Shaft Bearing

Hi All

Any Albin Vega owners here? I am in the middle of a repower and need replace the prop shaft. My problem is with the shaft bearing and housing, the original bearing is a resin type with an OD of 30 mm (1.180”) and a shaft of 25.4mm. The new shaft will be 7/8”, all the 7/8” shaft bearings I can find a have an OD of 11/4”. I know it is only a 1/32 difference and it could be turned down, but I would like to machine the housing so replacement would be easier. The housing looks to be about 2” deep and glassed in. Has anyone ever removed one of these? Could I be done in place, I was thinking of a brake cyl hone. The fitting looks to have enough material to allow a 32 to come out of it. Just wondering if anyone ever tried this?

A couple of pic’s of the old shaft and housing.

Glenn
