Prop pennies from heaven

I have mentioned the need for a new folding prop in the past, cost is about $1200- so what I really needed was for $1200- to appear from somewhere. A fellow from Sweden mentioned he would be in our area this spring so I told him he was welcome to stop by and go sailing. I told him I was easy to find if he could spell my last name as I am the only one. He did a search on my name and discovered that inland revenue in NZ owes me $1233.80 which will be used to buy the prop.

I ehlped a friend instal a folding prop recently: The blades were compsite. (Plastic or carbon fiber)

The unit was made in New Zealand and cost $1200.00 US.
(For a 37' boat and 40 HP engine)
My bud is happy with the performance.

Didn't ya know, we run out and wrap woll around sheep to keep them warm and you all thought wool came from sheep now didn't you.

Now how the heck did he find info like that out Mike. What website did he look at. I wonder if they owe me money Funny how, if you owed them, they would be on your door step ASAP. But they never try and find you when it is the other way eh.

OK guy's so how do these feathering props work? I understand the simple folding design, but does the feathering have to have special shaft designs for gearing or what??

A good geared folding prop in BC is about $1200- some are more. The feathering prop from NZ with the carbon type blades is about $1600- all other feathering props are lots more. A Beneslow here has the Kiwi feathering prop. I have contemplated a feathering three bladed prop thinking that it may run smoother but I will try the geared folding prop first. I am also getting a new strut built as the bronze unit snapped. A rope from the pointy end had tangled the prop and bent the strut, I straightened it but you could here the cracks during the process, I wrapped it in cloth and epoxy resin which lasted a couple of years. I did not do the damage it was done by an interum owner.

John, I don't know where you got your prices for a Gori folding prop, but my investigation shows them to be much pricier than Flex-o-Fold.
