My question is I have a polyester resign repair on our boats keel. I need to apply bottom paint on this repair. Do I need to prime paint the repair before the application of bottom paint? If so what primer is recommended?
Thank you all.
I guess I wasn’t real clear in my question. What I want to know is do I need a primer before the boatanti foulingpaint is applied. Putting on a epoxy barrier coat on 1 percent of the below waterline of the Hull won’t do much. I just want my bottom paint to adhere good or satisfactorily.

Yes, use the primer specified by the manufacturer of the anti fouling paint. My boat has Altex soft anti fouling and any sus spots were primed with a silvery colour primer whose name escapes me.

Just use grey primer, the International P10 or Altex multi purpose grey primer is compatible under any of the antifoul paints. Just follow the directions on the antifoul paint tin.
I’m in Florida and google international P10 and Altex multi purpose grey and come up with nothing. ???
All the major antifoul paint companies have their version of special grey multipurpose primers. Just use the one recommended on the antifoul paint tin. I like The Jotun variety.
