Problem is that you don't know if there is any
corrosion between the spreader and the cast
aluminum end - if the wall thickness of the spreader is compromised between the mating surfaces, it could potentially fail. Only way to know is to have a local company ultrasound or radiograph the ends to check for any integral issues. You could use dye penetrant to do a visual crack
inspection as a bare minimum. When in doubt, get new ones manufactured. This is not something you want to have fail at sea.
