Pearson 26 Bolt-On Keel

Within the next few months, I’m going to try to change the keel bolts in my 1973 Pearson 26. I’ve been doing some research and found that it is through-bolted. The holes below the waterline are then filled over after the keel is installed. My question is, “does anyone know what was used to fill those holes?” Can anyone recommend a material to use this time?

That's a great site and has been the source of most of my information. Pearson Current is another great site. The problem is, no one mentions what material was used to fill the holes under the waterline where the keel bolts go through. I'll ask around some marinas, get some ideas and post those here. Maybe I'll get an opinion or two from some of our members.

I would use 3M 5200

The 5200 would be for sealing the keel and bolts; for the openings in the keel for the nut access I would build wooden plugs and use two part epoxy for sealing

The referenced site suggests using mild steel keel bolts purchased from McMaster Carr. I would strongly suggest you consider 316 stainless or silicone bronze instead. Both are probably available from McMaster as well.
