Re: Payload for Small Boat Cruising?

Oceans? The OP was talking about the Chesapeake.

Personally I think the F-27 -- Corsair 31 range is about perfect. I went around the Delmarva 4 times on a Stiletto 27 with my little girl for crew. It was a hoot, stopping at many small islands to explore. Then I jumped to a 34' 8500 pound cat, and it is both slower and more restricted by draft (a whopping 3'3"). But my wife and daughter like it.

Much of it came down to money and comfort; when I had the Stiletto I didn't have the scratch for an F-boat, and when I bough the PDQ I wanted more comfort and off shore capability. I accidentally skipped perhaps the best step; a trailerable, fast, sea boat. I regret that.

Only if the monohuller elects to keep their stuff on the deck.

We keep ours (chain and other feather weight items) below the CG.

So, two columns, first for 'serious coastal' (like going to Newfoundland or up the PNW) and second for 30 day passage/blue water cruising (note the food and water are based on actual's from Beth's careful record keeping).

I had already answered you, regarding the Mojito 888 and the Malango 888 but the Malango 888 has been tested by a British Magazine, a conservative one that seems to start to be less conservative regarding cruising boats.
Maybe it interest you to have a second opinion. The test is on the second part of the post. On the first there are some interesting movies of the Mojito sailing with some sea and in different points of sail. It seems remarkably dry for the size and speed.
Interesting Sailboats: MALANGO 888 NEW TEST AND NEW VIDEOS WITH THE MOJITO 888.
