Re: Painting the Inside of my Cat

Having just painted my cat inside make sure you use some sort of low vapour paint. I used a product called envirothane. It is waterbased and has a low v.o.c? The first hull was painted with two pac and even with a mask on i got wheezy and wanted to spew.
good luck.

Re: Painting the Inside of my Cat

Good morning,

I am doing the same on my Nonsuch 30U. I started by cleaning everything with a strong solution of 2 parts Simple Green and 1 part Sugar Soap. Then I primed the fibreglass without sanding using Zinsser Bullseye 1-2-3 Primer (made by Rustoleum).

Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 Primer/Sealer

I am finishing with 2 coats of a basic water-based enamel. Water-based enamels have reached the point where they are equivalent to oil-based, without the fumes and with an easy-clean at the end of the day.

There is no reason to use marine paints on the inside of the boat, and the Bulls Eye primer sticks to anything. I have even gotten it onto glass by accident and it was difficult to remove.

The only place I didn't use this system was in the bilge, where I used flow-coat, thinking that standing water could be a concern.

Worked an absolute treat.
