Paint on fix for leaky keel?

Hi I have a leak in a cats stub keel, boat was lifted for a week and was not long enough for foam filled keel to completely dry, I ground into the leak area then sikaflexed then p40 then glassed over but the slow curing resin allowed water to seep through before it had cured so I still have a weep, is there a product I can paint on next time I beach the boat to temporary seal keel?
Thanks Martin

Sounds like the stub keel is a separate piece bolted to the hull? I would recommend pulling it and resealing. Hard to say without further info.

Re: Paint on fix for leaky keel?

Best solution I have seen is to take a sharp tool and carve a grove around the entire keel to hull joint. Make sure it is deep enough to fill with a good quality sealant. I used a very flexible Sikaflex product but don't recall the number. On a 10m boat I made a 1/2" wide by 3/8" deep grove. I filled it with the Sikaflex and allowed it to cure. Then I covered the joint with light weight fairing compound. From there I painted it with bottom paint. The sikaflex acts like an "o" ring. Not a drop of water got in to the hull where as the prvious year it was weekping like a broken fawcet.

Not sure why you would like to seal IN water??? If your'e doing it as a stop-gap measure to temporarily keep water out of the boat that's an entirely different matter... Otherwise you're just asking for trouble...

Welcome to CF BTW!
