Re: Paint on fix for leaky keel?
Best solution I have seen is to take a sharp tool and carve a grove around the entire keel to hull
joint. Make sure it is deep enough to fill with a good quality sealant
. I used a very flexible Sikaflex product but don't recall
the number. On a 10m boat I made a 1/2" wide by 3/8" deep grove. I filled it with the Sikaflex and allowed it to cure. Then I covered the joint with light weight fairing compound. From there I painted it with bottom paint
. The sikaflex acts like an "o" ring. Not a drop of water
got in to the hull where as the prvious year it was weekping like a broken fawcet.
