What part of "penetrates, softens and eventually dissolves the material" don't you understand?

Are you speaking from first hand experience in patching a PVC inflatable or just "book reading" from some website?

Granted, I should've written in the first post that only those with first hand experience should reply.

Frankly, I think that painting a dinghy with some sort of acrylic based paint should work. But, once painted it has to be maintained....forever.

Chaps, like a previous poster mentioned, are a good idea too.

Oh well.

Except for the commercial stuff offered by marine stores no one knows what paint to use.

Speaking of which....

I just called Inland Marine that offers dinghy repair products and the gentleman said that using this product-

....is sufficient protection for a dinghy in good condition with no holes in it. Any painting would be a waste of money.

So there you go. That's the answer then.
