Osmosis remediation, NZ, 2014/15

I've just posted to my album , contained within my profile, a number of photos of the osmosis repair done to my yacht by Osmosis Solutions , Gulf Harbour , Unzud, in 2014/15.

Some may find them of interest.

Mighty purty pink rope bags. Is that yellow line polypropylene?

Beautiful reflection pic, was that a sunrise?

Thanks Ann, yes polyprop. Not sure which photo you mean, one is a sunset, one is 0300, Seno Pia was early in the day... not too early but before noon.

Edit ... just checked them... yes early in day in Seno Pia....

Yeah, Ping,

Thanks for the feedback, It just had that early day look to me, but hey, I had a 50 % chance of being right, you know. ;-) I wish, sometimes, that we had made it to Chile.

Really beautiful shots, but I had to put a sweater on to look at a couple of them! Mind if I ask how much the remediation cost? On another thread someone with a Nicholson 31 needed that and had an estimate of $15K (AUS)

I had posted these osmosis ones sometime ago in threads assorted and also on the Nic31 thread. Thought I might as well put them in one of my albums so if needed I could just refer people to them.
Moving on.... 39 foot boat.... $30k New Zealand.... Work on the osmosis started on 3rd August.... completed before 19th November when the keel was dropped and she was moved into the shed for 'other work' to be done.

That's a bit steep, even for a Hotvac job. Anyone in the US interested in this work, let me know and I'll save you bucket loads of cash!

That was about US$21,500 at current rates of exchange.

Mind you when I had it done the NZ$ was at record high rates against the Australian dollar which is what I was using.... made my eyes water a bit I can tell you.

And, yes, New Zealand isn't as cheap as some would like to think.

$21,500 US is reasonable. Bet I could get her done for 15k though! Good work finding anyone who does Hotvac at all.

Unfortunately anything you get done at Gulf Harbour is going to cost a fortune. Nice place but damn expensive place to get work done. A lot of the boats here go to other travel lifts/hardstands to get work done.

For me it was Trinidad or NZ.... NZ is a short(!!) commute from the campo.

There are two HotVac choices in NZ... the other one is Hutchisons Osmosis Repairs - Hutcheson Boatbuilders down at Tauranga. I didn't choose them but have used them for a bit of other work. Can't speak too highly of them.

That said the last time I was in Tauranga I was told that costs there are rapidly approaching Auckland levels.
