Old Lewmar Winches - Modify or Replace?

I have some old (1986) Lewmar wavegrip winches, 12 in total. I am looking to pare down that number to 6 total by adding deck organizers and replacing the existing traveler and rope clutches. We have a 65, 55, 50, 46 and two 40's on each side. Looking to wind up with a 65, 55, and 50 on each side.

My question is, has anyone here modified the jaws on the bigger winches so they can take smaller line? The 65's cannot even grab 12mm line. I was hoping that newer Lewmar jaws would fit but they are only concerned with selling new stuff. Repair parts are hard to find and I do not know what kind of spares I would need for these antiques. Should I start saving my pennies for Andersen?
