Oceanis 411 ('99) - Upper Deck Cored?

Stupid question I guess.

The upper deck, inside the dodger, either side of the companionway - where all the clutches and winches are - I can't tell if this is solid firbeglass or cored. It looks solid from underneath when I open up the access panels...

Dont really know but if I guessed I would say cored except at winch pads etc...

One can answer this question by drilling a tiny (1/16") hole into the area in question... no theoretical discussion required, and you will really know what is in there! Then, coat a suitable bit of hardwood dowel with epoxy, shove it in the hole and after it hardens, chisel it off flush. Oh, you can do it from inside or out, but I'd likely do it from the inside where it doesn't show, and can't possibly let water into the insides if the epoxy should not seal.

1. Since the builder is still in business (unlike the builder of my boat), you could ask them.

2. I found a review of the Oceanis 350, Used Boat Review. Plywood core was used where hardware was installed for that model.
