New Rudder old key

Hi All,

Had a new rudder built with stainless shaft and the yard put it back together with a 4-5 inch bronze key from the old bronze shaft. This is above the waterline.

Will this be a problem over time?

The effects should be minimal since it is not immersed but it is in a salt air environment. A new stainless or Monel key is so cheap its hard to believe they reused an old component, let alone an old bronze key.

Should be fine. I would probably use a bronze key purposely.
