New Fresh Water Pump Issues...

So...
Needed a new fresh water pump...
Got one. Put it in.
WORKED GREAT!!!!
For a week....
Now????
Well....seems it still works great when the head/shower is water is running, but when we try to use the faucet in the galley....
Different story.
Pump and water pressure surges...and continues to surge till the breaker trips.
What gives here??
WHy is the head working fine..can even shower and run entire tank dry...but the minute the galley sink is turned on, it surges and trips breaker.
Will not even run for a 30 seconds...???
Hot water surges less....but still surges and trips breaker...cold water surges at a rapid pace and trips breaker.
Any ideas??

Re: New Fresh Water Pump Issues...

Beaver,

we had a similar issue after installing two variable frequency pumps. If you open too many faucets, or, in your case, one that does have especially low resistance, each pump will exceed the circuit breaker's limit and trip.

Try running the offending faucet half open, that will verify it. If it works half open, you can go two ways:

- get a "low flow" aerator for the faucet, reducing the max flow, or
- upgrade the circuit breaker

Re: New Fresh Water Pump Issues...

Figured out issue!
Seems that it got a little trapped in the hose to the galley sink... So it caused it to surge.
Happened when tanks ran dry...
New pump is 4gpm, old one was 3.
Love the new water pressure!
And no it doesn't exceed to line psi.
So I unscrewed the water filter before the pump... Checked screen .. It was fine... Then replaced and then found the air!
Now it's all back to new!
Thanks for the reply Oliver.
I'll keep my eye on it for a bit to make sure it's gone for good.

Re: New Fresh Water Pump Issues...

Alright...I jumped the gun.
Thought is was air trapped in line...but its not.
Thought it may be the water was leaving the filter faster than it was filling...but don't think anymore...
(I re-mounted the the filter)
It only seems to 'surge' from the galley, as it runs just fine from the head.
No surging, no tripping the breaker from the head... but different story from the galley sink, which happens to be only a 2 feet from the tank, filter, and pump. The head is about 10 feet.
I am so confused now, I think it's Friday.
Wait a second...It is Friday.
Anyway...more than confused now, very frustrated, and lots of pressure from the wife to fix this...or she'll stop doing the dishes...Please, God...NOOOOOO!
