Pat, I called Western Branch and they told me they are engines only, not sail drives. If I shipped it to you, would you repair it?
I think the problem is in the upper unit. I have pulled lower props and shaft and everythihng there looks OK but the oil
has a metalic (brassy) look. Pure guess but I think it might be the clutch
unit and maybe some secondary damage in the upper.
I just want to repair what I have and not pay 5.5k for a new unit from Volvo.
Mark, this unit has occaisionally been reluctant to engage. While motoring, I started getting a clicking sound through the linkage to the helm
. When I shut the engine
down and restarted she won't go in gear
, forward or reverse.
When I say crashed, I don't mean impact damage, the unit just went Tango Uniform. I have no idea on the real hours on the unit. There are about 4000 on the tach but I don't think the instrument panels
are original so there could be more.
