Need the name

Hey there everyone. I have to let you all know I am a total newbee to sailing. I have a question. Can anyone tell me the name of the thing that is mounted be the winches that the lines run through. Some times they are marked "Main, Jib....." and so on. I am rebuilding a Beneteau 423 that was scorched in a fire and that part had melted. I need to know what it is so I can order replacements. I would be gratefull for any help.

Re: Need the name

I believe they are called line or rope clutches.

Is it the rope clutch? It is usually mounted ahead of the winch and the lines are locked or released with this? My rope clutches are Lexmark brand.

Re: Need the name

I found them. Went to Defender Marine and there I can get them for a resonable price. I was like a kid in a candy store. I wanted everything I saw. If all goes well I will be soon cruising the Keys and Bahamas in a 2004 Beneteau 423. Found out from the pictures it looks like the fire in the stern was caused by the shore power area. Possibly a short. Got lots of fiberglass work to do but hey, thats half the fun.
