Thanks Ann. Your support is much appreciated. Things aren't great, but they could certainly be much worse. Let's just say that couch hopping with a family of four and a dog is less than ideal. But we'll soon have the boat back in the water and live able. It will probably be quite some time before she's sailable, and even longer before our finances recover. C'est la vie...

Well, it seems you have found a path forward. Glad to hear it. If you need to vent while fixing the damage I'm sure we will be glad to listen. Your an inspiration to all of us. If it had been my boat nothing would be left but several tons of lead.

Hi, minaret, et al,

Couch hopping with a family of four and a dog cements friendships, they get to feel good for "helping", you get somewhere to crash, so that one's mostly pluses. Yes, less than ideal, for sure, but good to hear you'll be able to move back aboard *soon.*

Sorry to hear it will be some time before she's sailable; and about the finances. Surely the insurance will come through eventually????........ Your thread here bears testimony to all the painstaking labor you put into the boat. Too bad most insurance adjusters know little about boats!

She looks LOTS better minus the soot, minaret. Of course you know that. What I am unable to tell from the picture is is the gelcoat all bubbled up, or is it okay?

Gel, paint, and varnish are bubbled on transom and port quarter forward about fifteen feet. Transom is the worst, pretty bad Gelcoat damage.

The davits are Kato Marine Offshore Voyagers. They came off John Travolta's boat. They were installed the evening before the fire. Crew speculates they are cursed.

So that must mean that the gelcoat must be ground off till you get to non-bubbled, the timber under the varnish is maybe okay! (good); the transom will be very damned hard, and you may decide to sell off the davits.

So much hard work, such a labor of love, and now to have to do it again. Good luck with it, and I hope some of the guys in your area come by to offer a hand, when you're ready.
