Hi Minaret, thank you for a fantastic thread! I have learned so much!

Have you been able to "splash" yet?

I hope this polar storm does not cause you trouble.

Minaret, what do you do to prep the bottom laminate before glass reinforcement / beginning epoxy barrier coats? Do you use 202, TSP, acetone, etc, or do you just wash down with soap and water and scotchbrite pad?

My boat is peeled, dried and ready for glassing / barrier coating.

Thanks

Soft pad with 36 grit for tooth and to remove any peeler marks, then two rag method with 202, several times.

I suppose I should get my sh*t together and finish this thread; I have thousands of pics to post here. Stopped posting after we got burgled twice in one month at the job site, the detectives seemed to think I was nuts for posting pics of expensive tools on a public forum.

Oh man, I know that feeling.
We used to own a rapidly growing video specialty store back in the '80's, and it took bars on the windows to finally stop the bastards.
Before that, it was about once a month with a $1,000 loss plus damage repairs.
Insurance? Nobody would touch us.

My sympathy goes out to you.

You da man. Thanks. Hull was ground this afternoon with soft pad and looking good.

If this thread reads like a book, you stopped right at the climax. Would love to see some closure. Let the burglars burgle

Lol! Easy for you to say, I'm down 5k worth of tools. I hate thieves with a deep and abiding passion!

Always happy to help.

Oh, I'm with ya, long walk off a short pier is just about right for those folks. As always, got hit right before Christmas...

Copdots.com

I don't know how much they would help in the recovery but if even one scum sucker was caught it would be worth it. Will workplace or homeowner's insurance cover?

No. Don't want to rock the boat at the yard. It's happened many times before, but this was the first time MY stuff got stolen. There's razor wire and cameras everywhere, but it doesn't stop them. Cop dots are cool and if I had any sense I'd be using them. Ah well, hindsight is 20/20.

You gonna' take donations? I reckon the professional advice you've given is worth something. This is an opportunity to put money to it. I'll start with $100 if you accept. I do not use PayPal.

Thank you for your kind intentions, but no way!
