And -27 at the pump. That's a killer bag, only drops 3 points over the whole bag! Anything over 15 is good for core, many people would turn it down a bit. -30 is essentially a perfect vacuum.

Interupting the vac bagging (excellent work btw) for a moment and going to back to the holding tank: What did you use for the inspection port gasket?

Natural rubber. It comes in different densities. I can get you the correct numbers and/or my source if you like, don't remember off the top of my head. Glad you like the bag, I'll get around to posting some even cooler stuff soon. Are you doing a tank job?

Re: Nauticat 52 Refit

I am planning to move my above-engine fuel tank (will be either plastic or aluminum) to the port cockpit locker, which will counterbalance the batteries in the starboard lockers.
I used rubber gasket in my previous boat - the trick was to ensure the torque when tightening the stud nut was right - too much could break or pull the stud, too little it would not compress the gasket enough.
I would not mind having the type of rubber, thickness and density - Thnx

I'll second the request. I've had some leakage out the top of one of my diesel tanks when they are full. Tks. in advance, Minaret.

Ahem. Not quite correct. I have blades that cut on the down stroke, specificly for laminate surfaces (no chipping) and yes they can be a handfull to control.

Ah, I see. I used 1/4" with a min. Durometer reading of 40.However, do NOT use natural rubber for fuel tank gaskets, it's fuel resistance is poor. There are better options. I would consider nitrile-butadiene or Viton (hexaflouropolypropylene-vinylidene fluoride).

Viton is of course more expensive and harder to come by.

Thanks for the info on the rubber types.
We sure are enjoying - spring has sprung - the high tomorrow will be 36 in Toronto! We are enjoying the wait.

Thanks Minaret! I'm out in the southern Rockies and it still can't decide if it wants to be spring or still winter. Probably similar out in Seattle, only different!

Looking forward to getting back out to the boat next month, although suddenly my "list" has gotten out of hand (again), no thanks to you & your refit thread!

OT
We had snow this morning. Not a lot, but in South Whidbey one of my customers had 8 inches !

It's all gone now.

Yep, typical Seattle spring, way too wet and cold. It's actually a good thing for me, since I'm working in a bubble tent all the time. It's like a greenhouse, as soon as the sun comes out the temps skyrocket 20 degrees or more. Working with a longboard in fullface and Tyvek when it's over 90 degrees in the tent is tough. Great way to shed pounds for summer!
