Moving the Masts

I'm looking at moving the boat I'm buying to a marina a few miles from where it's now tied to a dock. The masts are down and on a bunch of saw horses near the boat. The boat will be towed to the marina to be hauled and blocked. It's mariner 40 Ketch and the masts are pretty substantial. They will need work before stepping so I must move them to the marina. The location where they're at is not real good for putting them on an eighteen wheeler. Plus, I'm paying for the boat, my budget is not unlimited and I'd rather avoid that expense for such a short move if possible. My thoughts are to either get some poly barrels to float them and raft them alongside or to hang them alongside the hull against fenders for the short trip. Anyone done this or have ideas? They are hollow spruce masts.

Wow. Thank you so much, Gordmay. To built a support for two good sized masts will require only a few 4x4's a handful of nails and a couple of bolts.

Yep, that's the way its done. Gord you beat me to it again.
I've seen them towed on the road with a little trailer in the center of the masts for weight distribution but if you have several miles to go and some major freeways that might not work.
