Moving batteries to aft cabin

We have a 84 Hunter 31 that is our learning to sail boat. Because we know we want to sell it for a bigger boat that is suitable for liveaboard in a few years, we are conscious of doing things that might depreciate the value or desirability of the boat.

The batteries are currently located in a deep compartment under a seat in the cockpit and adjacent to the aft cabin. They are only accessible through a small opening under the cockpit seat. I want to move the batteries to a battery box mounted on the aft cabin wall and mount the battery charger next to them.

We use the aft cabin for storage, not sleeping, but know that many other prefer this area for sleeping. If you were sleeping there, how would you feel about having the batteries in the same area? Would this discourage you from buying the boat?

Re: Moving batteries to aft cabin

I've slept over or near batteries for 28 years. Doesn't bother me. But why change the layout of the boat from the original? Easier access to batteries is not a deal- breaker when selling the boat.

Re: Moving batteries to aft cabin

I have 3 inverter banks, each with 4 8Dds. 1 in the engine room and 1 forward under a bunk and another aft the same way. I made sealed, but easy open boxes that vent outside. Venting driven by computer box type 12v fans.
1 bank is under my bed. No issues for me, bedding or wood.
