Angry more balsa core prpoblems

Hi I have a Robert 44ft ketch that has been built in Balso core construction. It didn't sail that well down wind so I had the rudder dagger swung and supported by a large stainless stell shoe fitted to the base of the keel. This made a big difference but now some 4 years latter I have water seeping into the keel through the junction between the steel shoe and the glass.
Can anyone recommend how I could seal this such that water stays where it should. Outside the boat skin?

How is the shoe fastened to the keel. Some kind of keel bolts? Does the keel also have balsa core and is it wet?
However the shoe was attached, it failed in a short time. However you reattach the shoe, it has to be stronger and have a better seal.

Re: more balsa core prpoblems

If the fastenings have leaked into the core for four years now it's a bit too late fix it easy way. The damage is done and get's worse and worse as the time goes on. Haul up, dry the core with vacuum pump (might take quite a long time) remove possibly rotten core and repair. A major job to do, sorry
Then take a while to study how to do it right
