Mariner Ovens - Mariner Range w/Oven

Greetings,

I have a Mariner Gas Cooker that is pretty old.

It was made by Mariner Ovens out of New Zealand.

Does anyone know if parts are available for these ovens?

It appears that the manufacturer is no longer around.

Matt

I have a Mariner Regal that I love. Unfortunately, the company recently stopped servicing them, as the designer passed away last year (so I'm told). What parts do you need? Is it possible servicing can keep it going? I recently did some maintenance on mine that addresses some common problems (a good cleaning goes a long way). I also have the 2-page manual. It helps to understand how they work, which many people who acquire them with older boats do not.

Hi,

I also have a Mariner Regal 3 burner LPG stove/oven and was wondering if you had a copy of that manual that you could share?

I am also looking for some replacement pieces - do you have any tips on where to look? I've had some luck on ebay for generic pieces.

Cheers,
Ashley

Hi, Egallina,

My boat has a Mariner 4 burner, and I have no manual. Is there a way you could e-mail me a copy of the manual? I would appreciate it very much.

Please send me a PM if you can, and I will PM you an e-mail address.

Thanks in advance.

Ann

Re: Mariner Ovens - Mariner Range w/Oven

Hi Jim and others I found a place in NZ some years ago (5??) that supplied parts for the Mariner Stoves and even built up replacement burners. I bought burners, thermocouples and some other bits. They were pretty good to deal with so give them a try if they are still open.
Don't have Phn or E-mail only post so maybe try Google search

Address :- Stainless F&F Ltd
2/30 Sir William Ave

Good Luck Jacko

^^^^^^

Hey, thanks, Jacko!

@egallina, belay that. Jim came in and told me he does have a manual for the stove. Sorry if there was any inconvenience.

Here is my copy of the Mariner Stove Manual.

Two points bear repeating, especially for lighting the oven and broiler.

Hold the switch/valve open for a few seconds after lighting to allow the thermocouple to heat up in order to maintain gas flow.

And close the oven door gently. If you slam it, the air pressure in the oven will blow out the flame.

Be safe.

Re: Mariner Ovens - Mariner Range w/Oven

We also have a Mariner Gas Cooker in our 1987 Tayana 42, so assume the stove is that same vintage.
I found my owners manual, which is a tri-fold affair so not very in depth. Of note, there is a page of part numbers. I am trying to upload a PDF, but can't seem to get a small enough file. (Late Note: I finally got the resolution down enough on the Part List, with part numbers, which is probably the most important.)
I also found an invoice to the previous owner, dated November 2000. They were able to buy a control knob from
Rinnai
New Zealand Ltd
691 Mt Albert Road
PO Box 24068
Royal Oak, Aukland
Phone: 0-9-625-4285
email sales@rinnai.co.nz
www.rinnai.co.nz

Hope this helps.
Now, I have a question: There is a knob on the front of the stove marked "Grill". This lights a couple of burners that I can see in the top of the oven, up in a recess. Does anyone know how this "Infrared Grill" is supposed to work. Is there a grill attachment?
I appreciate any insights.
Thanks
Gene

Re: Mariner Ovens - Mariner Range w/Oven

Hi Gene,
We don't use the grill in our Mariner very often, but it does work. You take out the sliding cover for the burners (obviously!), light it by turning and holding the knob. You will see blue flames licking about the burner... let it warm up for a minute or more, then slide the food under the grill as close as is feasible. It will eventually be cooked, but not a huge heat output. I've used it to make grilled ham/cheese sandwiches and to do the tops of omelettes and so on.

Still hoping someone can source new burners and thermocouples... two of our four are unwilling to stay lit these days.

Jim

Re: Mariner Ovens - Mariner Range w/Oven

Stainless Fittings and Fabrications appears to be gone, although the website is still operating. I have the two-burmer Mariner Princess which has been great until the past couple of days, when the grill suddenly stopped working properly. It lights as normal, but won't stay on, which leads me to believe the thermocouple is toast. So any hint as to new thermocouples would be good.

Speaking of toast, that's the main thing we do with the grill. Breakfast is easier that way, even though you do have to turn the toast manually.Much better than those things that sit over the burner.

I Understand Stainless Fittings and Fabrications was sold a year or so ago, and the new owner took all the mariner parts to the tip :-(.
No support or components now available. Shame, they are a great unit.

Re: Mariner Ovens - Mariner Range w/Oven

That is too bad. I wonder if other thermocouples would fit. Ah well, that's a problem for another day. We're back to Canada is two days and the co-owners (stepson and partner) probably won't need the grill.

I decided to upload a video of the situation. Burner won't stay lit when knob is released and pilot goes out.

Re: Mariner Ovens - Mariner Range w/Oven

Yep, that sure looks like my situation, although it's my grill not a burner. I wonder if some of the electronic experts here would know if thermocouples are highly specific or if almost any device would drop in as a replacement.
