Mariner 28 renovation

My brother and I are restoring a Mariner 28 that we bought. We are looking for ideas to make this boat better as well as correct any common problems with this type of boat. Have been looking for an owners manual on line for a 1977 Mariner 28 anyone have a suggestions where you can find an owners manual?

We used to own a 1979 Mariner 28. Try the Mariner owner's website (Mariner Yachts Owners Group).

Our non-skid on the deck wore down, so we painted the decks with Interlux Toplac and the non-skid additive (sand-like beads). The Edson steering pedestal backing plate with the cable pulley's rusted out, so we replaced that.

Another concern is that the Yanmar 2QM15 was raw-water cooled, so you have to religiously flush it to keep the water flowing.

Once nice feature it had was a built-in hull-speed indicator. "What's that?", you ask. We knew when we hit hull speed because the cockpit scuppers would start backing up as the bow wave lined up with the stern, getting our feet wet ;-)
