Manufacture of Stainless Steel Portlights ?

We are replacing our opening portholes with SS New Found Metals portholes. The quality can't be beat and the price is actually almost reasonable.

We will still be left with the fixed Ericson-style fixed (leaking ?) aluminum portlights. How would one go about having identical shape, SS replacements made ? Is that even a realistic option ?

Thanks,

-Sven

Sven,

First off, for your NFM ports, you need a tap of the right size to clean up the threads in the trim ring studs. Also need to clean the bedding surfaces with acetone to get the oil off.

I'm in the middle of replacing the 6 opening ports on my boat. Probably next year I'll get to the fixed windows (here's what an Irwin 39 looks like

Because of some structural issues, I'm probably going to reduce the size of the openings.

For your fixed lights, you might want to consider glassing over the openings, cutting new opening using something current that has a compatible shape.
