Warm water, and a mild detergent.

Re: Maintenance

I use a front loaf laundromat, little soap and a double dose of softener. Hang on mast to dry.

Re: Maintenance

Put each rope into a pillowslip first. Prevents massive tangles!! Then into a ny washing machine, soaking in fabric softner mix makes rope really soft and limp>

The green sounds like mould which is the problem if you are in a tropical area
Fill the bath and soak. A mild chlorine mix is needed to kill the mould spores
Then wash

Don’t put bleach in with lines. Every rope manufacturer warns against this.

Sometimes the mildew/mold won’t come out. It’s cosmetic. Better to live with it than to compromise the line.

That said washing your lines before they get bad keeps them from ever getting bad.

Each to his own depends where you live how bad it gets
