Jim, could I tempt you to go out on a limb here and tell us which you preferred?

Matt, I do prefer the Sta-Lok, mostly for their more beefy construction, but in truth, there's not a lot in it. I'd probably decide on the basis of which was the better deal!. Our current boat has Norseman, previous one was Sta-Lok, one before that was Sta-Lok too... they all worked flawlessly.

Cheers,

Jim

PS: Five more days!

Excellent!

But I always measure in "sleeps". It's the Australian standard unit of countdown to Christmas and other desireable events.

Also, that probably means only FOUR more sleeps, which is a smaller number.

Reassuring, thank you. Looking forward to replacing our standing rigging next Autumn (Fall for our U.S. cousins).

Hi everyone,

We were warned that there are some counterfeit Norseman fittings around, make sure you get the real deal. The cruiser who bought the counterfeits had some break.

Nasty. Do you know if this happened to someone buying here in Oz or was it an online dealer? Any clues from the appearance of the fitting?

CF posting perchance?

Matt

Remind me after we get back, and I can take a picture of one that is not a copy, but don't have any Norsemen here now.

Regarding galvanised wire for rigging... its stronger and lasts twice as long if you look after it... as for parcelling and serving it... if you want to go through all that trouble fine... personally I found feeding the wire once a year worked just fine... that's basically wiping the wire down once a year with a penetrating oil...
Used to be common in the UK before stainless came along... and you don't need to splice it just bend it round a thimble and bang on a couple of D clamps...
