Lube Question

Any advice on lubing throttle and engine stop cables. Tried silicone spray with very little luck(last about one trip) I know someone has a special tool but don't know where too find it.

In the past I have used a product called "Moovit" made by Lloyds. I have had very good success with this stuff for freeing rusted frozen stuff and the lubrication stays in the cable. Available in spray or liquid form. You should be able to get it an an Industrial Supply place. I never leave home without it. I have seen a tool for applying lubricant down a cable using a pump. I always thougth this would be a good tool but never bought it at the time, now I can't remember where I saw it. I just pull the boot back at the high point, spray the stuff on the cable and let gravity do the rest. Good luck.

I'd replace the cables. I'd be willing to bet they are original? 20+ years old? If so they are well past their useful life span.

most motorcycle shops will have cable lubers available, they can be simple or complicated, simple is best, I use Spectro chain wax as a lubricant and have found it superior to oil based lubricants.

Hi Pat The cable are six years old, I'll try the Moovit if I can find it. Maybe Google will help.
