Lovebugs in Awl-Grip

We applied out final coat of Awl-Grip today and the love bugs had a convention on our tacky hull, stern mainly. Not a hint of them yesterday on 2nd coat... conditions were right today and the bugs came out to play, so we suffered the consequences.
Other than letting them dry for a couple of days and trying to fleck them off does anyone know a better way to remove the vile beasts from our paint?
I don't want to sand and repaint unless necessary for several reasons but primarily because we'd have to order more.
Advice?

Nup, it's a sanding job mate. Sorry to bring the bad news, I know what a pain it is. But the little dead bodies will have been buried deep in the coat and even if you disolved them away somehow, there will be little holes left every where. So it will be a sand back and another paint.
Put up a sign saying second coat, third still to come, but really make it your final coat without letting them know ;-) Although from experiance, I reckon bugs can read your thoughts :-)

Our sistership was shot a few years ago. They sanded and prepped no problem. Then when they shot the finish coat all the ockroaches
decided to abandoned ship. When the paint crew showed up the next day the hull was covered with the things. Had to sand it all down and do it again.

Guess the country the boat came from.
