long term storage for refit

I'm looking to store my 28ft vessel on dry land for refit. I don't have a trailer or access to a forklift. Its difficult to buy a trailer this size to accommodate 9000+ lbs at a reasonable price. What is my other options? Boat stands? I do have someone who I can hire to transport the boat to wherever I need to go. What is the best way to achieve this? Any suggestions are highly appreciated.

A boat that size a boat mover would be your best option. As for the stands, wood blocks and foam work well.

Re: long term storage for refit

Easiest way is to have it hauled by a travelift and put on a truck with a hydraulic Brownell trailer. Those can set it down at the other end (wherever you wind up doing the refit) without needing a crane to unload. You'll need to procure boat stands, and then the Brownell trailer can pick the boat up when it's done and take it back to the travelift for launching. Mind you, it's not cheap, but if you have a handy place to keep it, it might work out cheaper than paying yard rent. At least it did for me.

If you are in sF, there are anumber of places.to put the boat for a re-fit, depending on where you live. Napa has a long term storage area, many areas willhaul and store at a reasonable rate.

Are you looking to keep in the sfbay? how long is long term? 28ft monohull?
I just moved my cat into storage and looked at many options.
Moved it to a location in Walnut Grove in the sac delta.
One option was Shipwreck Storage, it is right next to the river (slough) and offered to trailer it from the launch into their yard, a very short distance. However, my boat was too wide for the ramp (18ft). Their rate was only $50/month DIY friendly.

I've checked Napa, their DIY yard for my size is too expensive, somewhere in the $300 range.
