Lifeline Gate

I want to install a gate in my life line and and am looking for any input and also a good source for the pieces. I don't know if it is possible or not, but it seems I could use the existing lines and just install the appropriate fittings. It is about six feet between stanchions.

If your wire life lines are are at all questionable, or if you want an easy and cheap way to save weight. Get some 1/4" Dynex, or Spectra, or Amsteel. Depending on how much you need you can get it for $1 or so a foot. The splices to make eyes is easy. You can get a set up for a gate that would work as good as any wire I bet. It will be a good weight savings and much nicer on the hands and backs....Lot of examples of rope replacing wire on my boat here.......:-)
