I think you have gotten some good advice on manufacturers so I don't have much to add there. But I would also explore switching to a carbon rig. Prices have fallen recently and may not be as much as you think, and once you are already at the replace, net stage for a rig, the difference is often not terrible. And they really do make a huge difference in how the boat feels.
Yeah, that must have been an expensive shipment. I can only imagine. And I'll think about the carbon rig. Haven't gotten a quote on one, but I'll check em out.

Re: LeFiel Spars Love em or Hate em?

We have an original LeFiell mast & boom on our '84 Pacific Seacraft Crealock 34. As part of a refit, we're purchasing a new boom from LeFiell, and Rodney and Shane's customer service with that process has been stellar. So now, instead of repairing and repainting the old mast, we're thinking it might be less expensive (in the long run) to replace the mast too. If anyone knows, we're curious as to how they sell a mast. We know they paint with Sterling, fine by us, but does the mast include the spreaders? Is it with wiring already run? Ready to rig and step? (We've got the factory building a new set of chainplates and standing rigging.)

I've got a call into them, but it's the weekend, it's cold and rainy, and it's on my mind - so, I thought I'd ask.

The Lefiell Marine Division has been closed. Apparently it is being sold off to a single person who may make parts available in the future.

Too bad. I imagine there are far fewer people doing their own anymore and I haven't seen one on a new boat in many years.

Re: LeFiel Spars Love em or Hate em?

My friend Blair, in Canada, recently replaced an original mast on a Kelly-Peterson 44, with the spar and fittings all sourced from LeFiell. I'm sorry they are not around anymore -- it was so old school -- perfect for my old boat.
