Leaky Hatches

My hatches are leaking in heavy rain. Do you replace rubber seals or is there a way to restore them? If it's best to replace the seal, where do you get the right material?

Re: Leaky hatches

The gaskets are usually specific to the model of hatch you have. Also make sure it's the rubber seal and not the hatch bedding that's leaking.

Also check the latch handles. Depending on wether they are installed through the glazing or not. Some hatches that have the handles through the glazing require "o" ring seals. Disassemble, clean, replace "o" rings, and reassemble using silicone grease.
Worked a treat on my Lewmar hatches.

Re: Leaky hatches

It is the rubber seals, I can take them off easily, perhaps I could match the material at west marine?
