Lanocote Prop and Bottom?

Has anyone tried this product? If it is how it says in the promo it could be the solution for fouled props.

Re: Lanocote Prop and Bottom?

I have tried Lanolin (which is the same thing) on my Catamaran Max props. When I was hauled in Trinidad I put a full can of silicone spray on one prop, and hand rubbed Lanolin on the other. The lanolin lasted better than the silicone. I would say it is comparable to bottom painting the prop, but nothing great.

I like the fact that it can be applied underwater. I just did the bottom and we painted the propeller. I was thinking of waiting a few months and apply this to see how it works. Its probably better than nothing.

Many cruisers use lanolin and like others have said its better than nothing plus you can add more underwater.

Lanocote is lanocote is lanocote.

Good between different metals and as a general water repelent/protector. Not good as a heavy duty grease.

On props? Yes, heard that story. Just forget it. Use proper prop antifoul paint or leave it bare.

Our rigger swears by this product. But mostly for nuts and bolts that wont be removed in many many years. Actually he did some work in my boat and when he was going to remove some nuts that he installed 15 years earlier he told me "look how lanocote works after 15 years" and it did work. He removed all the nuts and bolts without problems.

Re: Lanocote Prop and Bottom?

Yep. No water intrusion, no electrons flying. Good stuff for such applications.

Now available in spray too.
