Keel bolts

Has anyone experience of removing keel bolts on a Jeanneau 45?
They are studs (about 25-30mm) with large 54mm nut on top.
Can they be removed/pulled? How are they secured into keel?
Would it be better to replace with a bolt of correct length ?

Re: Keel bolts

I just replaced mine on a Beneteau. Ordered replacements and removed them with a 3/4 inch impact wrench. All went well. Not sure of the year of your boat or keel specs. Beneteau recommends stainless steel bolts for lead and galvanized steel for cast iron keels. Mine weren't all that bad. Coated them with epoxy when I was done. More a peace of mind thing knowing the keel the keel is secure.
