Isomat spar

I am looking at a Brewer 44 and it has an in-mast furler inside an isomat spar. Does anyone have any experience with this system?

The access hole to the furler looks very large and wonder if this affects the structural integrity of the spar.

Re: Isomat spar

I have an Isomat in mast furler spar on a Bristol 32. It's heavily built and I've had no problem with the mast or sheves. I've learned that I don't care for in mast furling though.
