island packet 37

Our farm/ranch auction is going to be in mid may-yea.We will need to find a boat shortly. We have a line on an Island Packet 37 that looks promising. I
have come to appreciate the knowledge of the folks on this board so I thought I would ask for opinions on this boat. We are open ended as to where we will sail and most of the time there will be 2 people on board with a max of 4.
My wife and I really appreciate the intelligence and
willingness to help that we see on the forum.
thanks,
Steve

Steve, Welcome and I wish you the best with your dreams. I liveaboard a Pearson 365 just South of St. Pete, Fl. I recently made a trip to the IP factory in Laro, FL with a friend of mine that owns an IP 29. It was quite impressive to see the craftsmanship going into those boats. This forum is filled with incredibly knowledgable sailors. Feel free to jump right in. Here is the Link to my WebBlog: www.sailblogs.com/members/trident/ Best of luck, Wiz

ip 37

Thanks Wiz,
The boat I am interested in is a Island Packet 37
built in 1997.There are enough I.P.' around that someone on this forum surely has some opinions as to how it might sail and how good of a cruising boat they make.I here they are rather roomy with a good bit of storage.
thanks

I have a IP-37

I have had this 1995 IP 37 since 1997. For my wife and I, this is our perfect boat. We live in Tennessee and have had the boat on the Tennessee River and now in Bradenton, FL preparing for the cruising portion of our lives. We've sailed her from Tennessee down the Tenn/Tom waterway to Mobile and across the Gulf twice and down to the Keys. She has been a very comfortable, stable, and forgiving vessel. Even though I have sailed for yeas on inland lakes, the challenge of the open water was much more easily taken on our Island Packet, OPTIMYSTIQUE.
As I look at other boats, I can find none that would serve our needs any better than the one we have.
Feel free to e-mail for any specific questions.
