Infinilube vs. McLube SailKote

Have any of you guys tried Infinilube on your mast track yet? If so, how well does it work?

I'm happy with McLube. Especially when my phone told me I can get a 16 oz can at Sears for $17 instead of $28 @ WM

Infinilube is silicone grease (synthetic) in a spray can. It is pretty much the same thing as Super Lube. It doesn't dry out.

McLube is a PTFE lubricant in a carrier fluid that evaporates quickly. The PTFE is left behind as a film. The film will rub off after some sliding action. That's why it has to be reapplied after some usage.

They are different lubricants with different "problems". One has to reapplied more often. The other attracts more dirt and dust. It depends on what's important to you.

Its my understanding that Infinilube does dry and does not attract dirt. Under "Strengths" they claim this:

"Non-stick
> Deters Dirt, Grime, Salt and Sand"

You're right, it says that it "dries quickly".

I also read one web site that says it is silicon lubricant. I didn't think there was such a thing as silicon based lubricant. I see a lot of people confuse silicone with silicon. Maybe there is such a thing as silicon lubricant and infinilube is not silicone based. If so then I will stand corrected.

I haven't seen it in action so can't verify their claims. I may order a can and give it a shot.

Blaster makes a dry silicone lubricant that sounds like the same thing. An 11oz spray can is available at Home Depot in the US for $3. 3M also make the same thing.

I have been told to use in place of Sailkote a product made by DuPont and called "Teflon Chain Saver", a motorcycle chain lubricant. Supposedly it's the same product.
I have not tried it - i have a couple cans of Sailkote that were given to me.

Thats a bummer... when we had motorcycles we used that stuff!
