Incorrect Part Number in Manual

Thanks again all for your advice, fixed the heating problem on my Perkins 4.108 and just returned from removing and replacing my Jabsco water pump">Raw Water Pump all works fine only one problem - the new studs, nuts and washers ordered from England were not the same size as the studs I removed they were larger - I think it is for the backing plate not the pump housing - manual stated part numbers = Stud 0826268, spring washer 0920053 and nut 0576002 they are 5/16 - I had to improvise with 6mm stainless steel bolts put lots of loctite on the threads used plain washers because I did not have spring washers with me - can anyone help with the correct part number or what is the UNF thread size for the 6mm - is it 3/16 or 1/2 inch - any advice will be much appreciated - thanks - MVR

Sorry, can't help you.
Just finished rebuilding a 4-236 that had metric, AF,BSW and BSF fasteners. Looked like the tool department of Snap-On in the workshop.

I trust you mean 3/16 or 1/4 inch. Well, I think it would be 1/4". Its been a long time since I knew these things. A 1/2" wrench can be used on a 12mm nut so I would assume you would need 1/4" for 6mm.

6mm = 0.23622" and 3/16" = 4.7625mm
1/4" = 6.35mm

Thanks DeepFrz, has anyone put a 6mm stud in a 1/4 inch thread ?? - as mentioned it went in fairly easily and put a lot of locktite - it seems to be holding - only time will tell - MVR

NOT recommended as the the thread pitch and diameter are not the same and there is a good chance the stud will pull out under load. If you have access to threaded rod you can make your own studs or an extra long bolt can be cut down to size.
