Not sure what it is but you will have to get better with a knife before you ruin your boat.

Do you have bug bombs ? I'd take food and cooking utensils off the boat and bug bomb it for a day.

Looks more like a book louse to me.

Depends on where it was and magnification. Book lice are much smaller; bedbugs tend to stay hidden in bedding and furnishings

I see them darting over the docks... the ones I se are the size of a quarter or half dollar.

IIRC they feed on algae, I see them on my decks once in a while.

You say they are tiny. Give us a specific measurement, s.a. "2 millimeters long". I suspect it's yer common bedbug, this one still in search of a meal and therefore not swollen and red. Bedbugs are ubiquitous. but easy enuff to exterminate. They find their meals by responding to the carbon dioxide emitted in people's breath. You can therefore set traps for them by placing a glass with sugary water and yeast in the centre of a vertically sided ramekin containing half an inch of plain water. Make a ramp of rag leading from the floor to the edge of the ramekin which will be full of CO2 emitted by the fermentation. The CO2 rises over the rim of the glass and falls into the ramekin, thence over the edge of the ramikin and onto the floor. The bugs climb the rag, as they would climb bed linen, and fall into the ramikin. Despite their being attracted by CO2 the bugs need oxygen to live and once they are trapped in the ramekin where the O has been displaced by CO2 they asphyxiate.

A landlord's old-fashioned eco-friendly way of dealing with premises whose departed tenants were less than hygienically satisfactory :-)

If you want hy-tech buggicide, any "House and Garden" insecticide will do. But be sure to follow instructions on spray can, and make sure to keep pets and children away from it for at least 24 hours. Stuff containing neonarcotinoid works by paralysing the insects (also birds and small pets) so they cannot breathe and therefore asphyxiate. "Siphotrol 2000 Premise Treatment" is very effective and is available through veterinarians. It is meant for fleas but will also work for bed bugs. Its active ingredient is permethrin, and it is therefore not terribly toxic to humans, but it should be treated with respect nevertheless.

I like the simple trap myself :-)!
