Identify my Stove?

Finally connect propane to the stove (still on the hard) and found that the valve for the oven is stuck solid (closed fortunately). Can anyone identify the manufacturer and suggest when I can get a new valve?

It looks like an older Force 10. There is a label in the front - does the remainder of that look like it use to say Force 10 (I don't have the bandwidth to see it full size)?

I looked but could not make anything out of it. Looks like I might have to disassemble it and look for a tag in the rear someplace.

Take a pic of the oven burner. Then we might have a better idea. Offhand I don't think it's a ForceTen as most of them had a teak insert in the oven door handle. I would try to lube the spindle of the valve, they do stick sometimes.

My guess is Force 10, but it must be 15 years old.

I would call or email them and they can confirm it or maybe tell you who manufactured it.

That sure looks to me like the Italian-made stove I had on my old 45' liveaboard cutter, circa 1981. Unfortunately, I can't remember the brand name.

I bought it at the Annapolis Sailboat Show back then and have never since seen them marketed in the US.

I still vividly remember the "Italish" installation instructions, though: "Be sure stove is installed well windy."

Many of these valves have a spring loaded shutoff lockout feature. Soaking the shaft with a little penetrating oil works 9 out of 10 times. I've worked on a few of these similar.

Having had a bit of experience with Force 10 stoves, I can tell you they can be worked on. The valves are Italian, the parts are available from Sure Marine in Seattle, and they can be completely disassembled and pop riveted back together. It can also be an opportunity to upgrade the insulation, which will improve the efficiency.

Attached is my "hod rod" Force 10, which I converted into an eye-level oven model for my multihull. Previous stoves on my boat were all Magic Chef from RV suppliers. Too many pasta dishes cooked in salt water destroyed the all-steel units, hence the desire for something more dependable. The pic shows the stove partially reassembled as I await some parts.

I just rebuilt a twenty year old Force 10. They have nice stainless burner kits out now, I replaced all three of mine. Looks like new.

ALL my valves were frozen up solid. rain water had been dripping onto the top of the stove through a leaky overhead for years. The cast iron burners were shot. I found out that disassembling and cleaning up and lubing the valves made them work like new. Put a new electronic ( not pizeo) sparker on it and she's ready for another 20 years.

Not sure what it is but definitely not a Force 10. They did not have glass doors until recently. On a Force 10 the oven door ends up under the stove when it is open.
