Re: I am in the

Carib is a mighty big place. You will get more practical responses if you narrow your location down to a few hundred square miles.

Re: I am in the

A friend who has been to DR many many times, and actually has investment property there, says that this would be his 1st choice of country to do a refurb in. He is actually looking for a 45-50ft range sailboat in FL to take to DR for such a refurb. Says the labor would be almost 1/10 of the cost here. But the parts probably a bit more expensive. So he's planning to load the boat with parts on the way there and declare them to DR customs as spares, non working etc. But I'd assume he knows how to push their bureaucratic wheels having built his property there from scratch.

Years ago another friend did his refurb in Venezuela. But that was in the 90s and probably wouldn't work today.
