My guess is the spring that you have to overcome when you push the button has gotten weak, or itís not fully engaging the striker plate? Try to open without pushing the button, if you canít, then I think the engagement is fine.
Can you take it apart and put in a stronger spring? Every imaginable spring can be ordered online nowadays, and cheaply.

Do you mean these?

Hafele marine cabinet latch

Flounder Pounder Marine, your source for original equipment boat parts for all brands of boats. Latches, locks, hardware lighting, stainless, gauges, panels, fiberglass parts, fabrics, propellers, running gear and more

If so, sometimes they simply fail from use. If it's not just an adjustment issue, they're cheap to replace.

Hi tjandoverguy,

I have the same boat, ended up replacing one of these with the same issue you had. Order enough to have spares as they are very hard to find in the big box store or even most marine stores.
