Hello,
Seriously looking into a Hunter 375 but as always some 'bumps in the road'.
1. Dry void in the deck with stress cracks visible, audible movement when moving over etc....
2. 7 out of 8 stanchions are compromised. Anyone having any experience w replacing stanchions on Hunter 375??? Costs of rebuild etc?
3. cracking at the back of the keel-hull joint, is that typical?
4. Tiny leak on port side which will be impossible to trace due to construction.
Overall super lightly used and in grand shape except for the 'bumps' which will likely still add up

Re: Hunter 375 (1993) stanchions/hull-keel/dry void

Voids can be filled with epoxy. The question is if the void is because of poor construction (simply a void) or if it used to be wood and a leak rotted it then washed it away (yes, this does happen over time.)

As for leaks: I have a zero tolerance policy on my boat. Little leaks get to be big leaks, and little leaks are often indicators that there is more water than you think, and it's going somewhere. The leak you show can be exposed by removing the bungs, then screws, then wood. Track it down if you buy the boat.

Re: Hunter 375 (1993) stanchions/hull-keel/dry void

Thank you very much for your reply. The void is dry so 90% construction related. Stress cracks will allow on water though so needs a fix. Due to the way these boats were made the ceiling is ONE hard shell, no headlining or access. This is the second 375 we see and the second one with a drip at that precise spot (first one was a lot worse). There seem to be not a lot of 375 oeners on forums....

I now have been told by an owner that this is NOT the keel hull joint but this is a crack in the lead keel itself..... jippiejahee.....

Yes that looks to be the case.

But...why. A grounding? Maybe look elsewhere on the keel for indications of a grounding.

Nope... It is at the back of the keel, a grounding would be at the front of the keel. No idea. Bizar.

My obvious response is the yacht was in reverse!

But I think not. Maybe a metallurgist might have a suggestion.
