Hull damage assessment by surveyor
Hull damage assessment by surveyor.
The attached link will take you to a YouTube video prepared by a UK marine surveyor. The video graphically illustrated the extent of the hull damage that was sustained by a 42’ French built vessel after it reportedly hit rocks. The video clearly illustrates the bonding of the separate hull and box sections of this vessel; together with a very professional description of the resultant damage. I found it very educational and interesting!!

re: Hull damage assessment by surveyor
Thanks, useful, if only to make me feel better about my choice of hulls.

Hull damage assessment by a surveyor.
I’d like to correct the original title of my post. In retrospect I should have identified the post as Hull damage assessment by a surveyor. I trust CF readers were not confused.

The title drew me in to read the post But then I'm already confused so it all works out in the wash.

Re: Hull damage assessment by surveyor
Great video, I do like the bit when he says this part has been repaired before
Still it keeps someone gainfully employed fixing stuff

Re: Hull damage assessment by surveyor
A while back A64pilot put up a post about a guy who came into the boatyard and shot holes in a boat...perhaps he was a surveyor who had not been paid? I liked the title before the edit.

Re: Hull damage assessment by surveyor
Heritage One-Ton I raced years ago was built with a similar box structure except, the box (secondary structure) was a large SS welded armature bolted into ribs & bulkheads well up the sides of the vessel. Shrouds were led into the outermost edges. The armature extended well for & aft of the actual keel. I feel this is both stronger and more easily repaired or serviced. That boat actually fell off its cradle in the yard once (no mast). Only minor damage resulted. My kind of boat.
