Hull Cleaning?

Has anyone had any experience with this?

What do you think?

Re: Hull Cleaning?

Not much.

Can't see what you're doing, can't clean thru-hulls, can't clean prop and shaft, can't get effectively to lower part of keel and its bottom. Seems like the boat equivalent of some $25 gutter cleaning tool.

Seriously, 1/2 of divers I've hired over the years do a crappy job and they're actually in the water looking at what they are doing. That tool is maybe effective for very small boats but on anything larger than 20-22 feet with a fixed keel I think it would be next to worthless.

Yah I don't get it. If I were in a climate where diving isn't appropriate, I would source a boat lift strap, sew an mild abrasive pad and have someone at either end of the hullaalternatively pull on the strap.

Re: Hull Cleaning?

It's a half-assed way to clean your hull. Yours for the low, low price of $130.

Re: Hull Cleaning?

Looks a lot like the old PVC tree with outdoor carpet on it that was all the rage in the late 80's and early 90's ( still see a few at the marina unused.)

So that's what they're charging? I don't think I'll be buying.

Re: Hull Cleaning?

I've had good luck with a cleaning brush - duct taped to a telescoping boat hook. Price was right.

I've played around with adding buoyancy like the product described here but I find it better to use leverage against the edge of the dock or dingy gunwale to provide upward pressure on the hull.

As others have said, you cannot do a perfect job. However, It is a good way to do a "freshen up" between proper scrubs.

Not a "polisher." It's the Remora Solo- a battery powered, hand-held, rotary brush hull cleaning system
