That's a tricky question! Believe a shipwright would want to examine the deck in person :- To determine the extent of the 'delamination'. To establish the cause. If it is found that the
core (plywood or some other
wood has rotted and swollen - which in turn has delaminated other material, then you may be looking at a significant amount of
work, not only to remove the deck but also internally it may be necessary to remove and replace headlining.
If the
boat is some 30 years old - it may be an idea to instruct a
surveyor to provide a condition and valuation
survey, giving a separate appraisal of the delamination problem. In the end the
survey cost, could save a lot of
money.
