it might work on a catamaran.....but on a mono you would want to keep your center of gravity low

A shower shell preferably from fibreglass and gelcoat. Build a simple plywood mold.

Tiles have no place on a boat.

Sounds like you want a cheap quick solution. That will likely end up as a cheap low quality solution.

You might be able to retrofit a generic home depot trype shower.

mmm . . . . something like 38 in. x 38 in. x 74-1/4 in. Neo-Angle Shower Kit in White and Chrome-403306 - The Home Depot . . . . or any of the many many other prefabbed shower stalls.

There are also guys who will take custom measurements and make you a pre-fab fiberglass gelcoat shower.

Yea, you would need to install a flat flooring to set it on. But that is dead easy. . . . no sanding or painting required - and could use other adhesive than epoxy, or 'old fashion' joint techniques (like peg joints)

But step back to the bigger picture . . . so you have an empty hull, and can't do epoxy or sanding or painting . . . . what's your plan? Why is it just the shower you are asking about and not the rest of the interior?

Local boatbuilders use Coosa board for non-structural "walls". It is factory fiberglass coated on both sides & waterproof-very light but strong.
Works like plywood-amazing stuff.

My 2p worth is however you decide to do it make sure the sump is deep enough so that the drain really is the lowest point in the shower.

Sounds logical but for some manic reason the drain fitting of my main shower is slightly higher than the base of the sump so we always end up with some water left. I think it is due to the thickness of the rubber grommet sealing the drain into the base but whatever it is annoying.

Depends on size of boat. Do not use tiles under any circumstances. Hard to clean, will pop off as the boat flexes, and great breeding ground for mildew and mold. We used a prefab fiberglass shower modified to fit our boat. A Home Depot thing that, with some cutting and fussing allowed us to line the entire head, shower and all. Easy to clean, kept water from entering any wooded bulkheads, and always smelled nice. You can also just build your own. But then again, depends on size of the boat. Our boat was a 43 ws tub.

I am doing the same thing to my project. I looked at RV shower pans, They have many configurations to choose from. You will have to build up a deck underneath but the location of the drain can be chosen and they have a coaming built in since they RV moves about some. The coaming can be as high as 10" - I chose a 6" coaming. It will take a bit of trimming around the edges to fit but, IMO, better than trying to build a waterproof shower pan. I may well put in a teak shower grate - scavenged from the teak deck I removed.

Pan to size, with stringers for support. Plumb with Forespar's Marelon (for weight and durability). Panels and pan can be a Home Depot stall, or panels from the same source. Spend the money on a grate for footing (Tile/terrazo is a really bad idea). It's going to be interesting, but worth it in the end.

1. Prefab residential shower floor pan.
2. Aluminium profile framing.
3. Prefab FRP panels.
4. Residentail tub enclosure panels for interior.
5. Tube of 3M 5200.
6. Wood veneer or laminate exterior.
7. Shower curtain (or acrylic folding trackless shower stall door).

Light, low cost, deck fluff friendly. ;-)

Yea, It is fine stuff - but you mostly want to use the board with skins already on, rather than the bare board. The bare board is too much labor to finish and ugly unfinished.

It's just one option in the spectrum of pre-fab cored panels, from honeycomb thru foam to wood cores. They all have their place depending on the structural requirements.
